Singapore 11.10.2012 - 16.10.2012

After my arrival in singapore on the 11th of october, i took the train to the city hall. The train in singapore is pretty nice and i think the fastest way to travel through the city.. For only 1-2 singapore dollars you can get nearly everywhere , even to the airport.

From the city hall i tried to find an internet cafe. With the help of the internet i was able to find a good hostel called the "wow hostel". They wanted 18 Singapore Dollars per night.
To get there i again had to take the train to the "aljunied" train station. The hostel was only about 200 meters away from the station, which is great.

After checking into the hostel i decided to go to the city, where i wanted to see for example the marina hotel. On my way to the hotel i took these pictures:

Unfortunately to get to the top of the building costs 20 Singapore Dollars, so i was not sure whether it was worth to spend the money. On top of that perhaps it would have boring to go up there alone. Because i would stay 3 more days in Singapore i decided to wait, maybe i would find some other people the next days who wanted to go to the top as well.
After that i decided to walk streight into these towers, because i wanted to see what is inside the towers:

The towers mainly consist of hotels and i think offices of big companies. Some shops can also be found there. Somehow by walking into the towers i got lost and ended up in china town. Here are some pictures of China town:

After walking through china town and through half of the city, i finally found back to the promenade, were there was some nice life music. I listened to the music, took some more pictures and then went back to my hostel.

mac ritchie park - 12.10.2012

On October 12th i went to the Mac Ritchie Park in Singapore with someone i met in the hostel. The Park has a pretty lake where you can go kayaking on or you can go for a walk around the lake.  At some places signs can be found which tell you something about certain animals (like the picture below) or the nature in the park .

In this park i walked a bit around the lake on this boardwalk, which was really nice. On my way back, little monkeys crossed my way :) . Unfortunately again i had no bananas, although on the other hand it is forbidden in this park to feed the monkeys.

Singapore Zoo - 13.10.2012

On the 13th of september me and two people from my hostel went to the Zoo of Singapore. It*s a really nice Zoo, because most of the animals seem to have big compounds. I especially liked all the different monkeys, and especially the ones with the awesome noses. When we came to these moneys compound,
two of them were fighting... which looked really funny :) .
I recorded a small video of this : ( which i will upload later)

14.10.2012 - Botanic Garden

On October the 14th i went to the Botanic garden in Singapore which was really nice, and the best thing is : it was for free!
At the beginning i could choose between all the different kinds of gardens one which would interest me the most. As shown in the picture down below.
pick the garden of my choice
I was most interested in the evolution garden so i started with this garden. The evolution garden, is a garden
which tells the story of how the plants developed on our earth since the beginning of time.

The second garden i cose was the health garden, which shows different kinds of plants which are used for medications. As expected they didn*t show any weed plants, because probably people would steal them, if they were growing there ;) .

The next garden i visited was the ginger garden. What i learned from this garden is that banana plant for example belongs to the family of ginger plants.

The last garden which i visited was the orchids garden, which costs only 1$ for students and 5$ for adults. I was lucky that i had a student passport.

After visiting the Botanic garden i went to a barber at the Shopping Centre at Clarks Quay. I think it is funny that all the shops in Singapore seem to be opened 24/7. You can go shopping when ever you want. I think it was about 8 pm on a Sunday night, when i got my hair cut at this barber. Being happy that i finally had shorter hair again i went to the Marina Bay Shopping Centre, because i was hoping that i could perhaps play a bit on the grand piano in this shopping centre. When i arrived at the grand piano, these guys here were already jaming it out for me, so i didn*t have to play on it. They said they play there every weekend.  I listened to their music a bit and then went back to the hostel.

15.10.2012 - Suntec City Centre && little India

On October 15th i went to the Suntec City Centre in Singapore. There i watched the Fountain of Wealth,
which is the worlds largest and worlds ugliest fountain -  as natalie tran would say.

Fountain of Wealth
Having found this fountain i went to a piano shop in a nearby shopping centre which sold pretty grand pianos. I was alowed to play on the big white and brand new grand piano :) . After playing some songs, i decided to walk from the shopping centre in north-west direction to little india. I should have better taken the train, that was really a long walk.

little india
In little India i went to a restaurant for lunch. I found a nice vegetarian meal for 6.5 Singapore Dollars. The people in the restaurant were very friendly, and they even refilled my rice for free :) .

After having a meal in this indian restaurant, i walked trough a small market as shown in the picture down below. I bet you can find tons of these markets if you just walk into some of the smaller streets on the side. On one of the markets i bought a small pinapple for 2 Singapore Dollars which i would have for breakfast on the next day.

In one of the side-streets i found a "little" food court. Asians here in Singapore and also in malaysia seem to love theses Food courts - even the indish people, while i m not a great fan of them, because the food in these courts often suffers in quality i think.
