Surfers Paradise 01.11.2012-3.11.2012

On the 1st of November i arrived in Surfer*s Paradise. After my arrival i first went to a local Supermarket to buy something to eat. I shared the costs for food together with a girl from the hostel, which means we were also cooking together. After i had finished eating , i went to the beach because i wanted to see the coast of Surfers Paradise. The beach looks like one of the beaches you know from movies, with all the many skyscrapers. I stayed at the beach until the sun set, and then went back to the hostel.

At this same evening of the 1st of November, i went to a club in the city called "Vanity" Club. At this night they had a special offer where you only had to pay 1$ for a bottle of beer. Unfortunately you had to pay 10$ dollars in order to get in (as a boy, i think for girls it was for free .. .which is strange). But we were really lucky, because we met some nice australian people who helped us to get in for free :) .
So basically the only thing i payed this night, were the dollars for the beer. Because this 1$ per beer offer was only valid until 24 o*clock i drank as many beers as i could until this time and then went dancing a bit.
But i didnt stay very long, because i was really drunk. So i left the club and went to the beach.
The complete beach was full of seagulls, which looked really interesting, because they were white and somehow reflecting the light from the skyskcrapers. After visting the beach i went back to the hostel.

On the 2nd of November i wanted to relax a bit. My plan was to go to the beach. On the way to the beach i stopped at a peter pans travel agency because i wanted to plan the next steps of my australia trip. Somehow i got stuck there for the rest of the day. After i had finished my bookings, i went back to the hostel, and sat there and talked with some of the people of the hostel for the rest of the night.

On the 3rd of November i went to the beach swimming i guess... I will see.

Byron Bay 23.10.2012-31.10.2012

In the morning of the 23rd of October i arrived in Byron Bay. There i stayed at a nice hostel very close to the beach which is called "Backpackers Inn". In this hostel i wanted to stay some days in order to improve my surfing skills. But the surfing in Byron Bay was quite hard in the beginning, because there is a very strong current, which makes it harder to walk inside the water.

On the  25th of october i went to the the lighthouse of Byron bay with some people from my hostel in order to see the sunset. From up there you have a very nice view and sometimes can see dolphins and wales in the sea ...  but unfortunately i couldnt see any dolphins or wales :(

Today is the 30th of October 2012. Ive now been in Byron Bay for 7 days. For the last two days we had pretty small waves. Which is perfect for surfing beginners like me. I could stand up on my board so many times which is really great. I also bought a wetsuit from one of the people from the hostel which is almost new (for about 50$) so i dont have to be worried about the water temperature. Tonight we will go to the cheeky monkey`s pub again where we will get some free drinks , because we have some kind of vip ticket.

Here is another picture of the beach from this morning. I know it looks still a bit cloudy, but nevertheless it`s quite warm here in australia, and also the water is very warm, and as i said, the waves are very nice for surfing :)

SpotX 21.10.2012 - 22.10.2012

In the evening of the 20th of October i left Sydney and headed up north along the east cost in Brisbane direction. My first stop was at SpotX a small Surf Camp at the sea. This Camp is really nice but not very cheap. You pay about 135 dollars per day. In the morning you have your surfing lesson, with an experienced instructor. You get a wetsuit and surfboard and everything, and then for the rest of the day you can relax. Everything is included: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner, and usually you can eat as much as you want.
Here are some pictures of my first moments on a surfboard:

Sydney 17.10.2012-20.10.2012

I arrived in Sydney on the 17th of October at about 11:30 am. From there i took a bus to the nearest bus station. And then took the underground train to my hostel. After checking in into my hostel, i went to a supermarket and bought something to eat. All in all i paid about 10 A$, which sounds a lot. But i can eat about 3-4 times from this, which is about 3$ per meal and that is okay.
After having lunch i lay down a bit because i was so tired, from my flight. When i woke up again it was already about 7 pm. So for the rest of the day, i stayed at the hostel, and drank something and talked a bit together with other people from the hostel.

On the 18th of October i got up early for breakfast. Then at 9:45 i participated in a free sightseeing tour through the city. The tour was really nice. We went to almost all the important places in Sydney, like for example the harbour, the botanic garden and to the opera house. After this tour, i went to 2 free museums:\
the "NSW art gallery",  and the "The Rocks discovery museum". Here i have some photos from the tour.

On the 19th of October i went to one of the beaches in Sydney together with some people from the hostel
i stayed in. The beach and water was really nice, but the water was still a bit cold. In the evening we all went to a club for dancing, which was fun.

Singapore 11.10.2012 - 16.10.2012

After my arrival in singapore on the 11th of october, i took the train to the city hall. The train in singapore is pretty nice and i think the fastest way to travel through the city.. For only 1-2 singapore dollars you can get nearly everywhere , even to the airport.

the train of singapore from inside

From the city hall i tried to find an internet cafe. With the help of the internet i was able to find a good hostel called the "wow hostel". They wanted 18 Singapore Dollars per night.
To get there i again had to take the train to the "aljunied" train station. The hostel was only about 200 meters away from the station, which is great.

After checking into the hostel i decided to go to the city, where i wanted to see for example the marina hotel. On my way to the hotel i took these pictures:

Unfortunately to get to the top of the building costs 20 Singapore Dollars, so i was not sure whether it was worth to spend the money. On top of that perhaps it would have boring to go up there alone. Because i would stay 3 more days in Singapore i decided to wait, maybe i would find some other people the next days who wanted to go to the top as well.
After that i decided to walk streight into these towers, because i wanted to see what is inside the towers:

The towers mainly consist of hotels and i think offices of big companies. Some shops can also be found there. Somehow by walking into the towers i got lost and ended up in china town. Here are some pictures of China town:

After walking through china town and through half of the city, i finally found back to the promenade, were there was some nice life music. I listened to the music, took some more pictures and then went back to my hostel.

mac ritchie park - 12.10.2012

On October 12th i went to the Mac Ritchie Park in Singapore with someone i met in the hostel. The Park has a pretty lake where you can go kayaking on or you can go for a walk around the lake.  At some places signs can be found which tell you something about certain animals (like the picture below) or the nature in the park .

In this park i walked a bit around the lake on this boardwalk, which was really nice. On my way back, little monkeys crossed my way :) . Unfortunately again i had no bananas, although on the other hand it is forbidden in this park to feed the monkeys.

Singapore Zoo - 13.10.2012

On the 13th of september me and two people from my hostel went to the Zoo of Singapore. It*s a really nice Zoo, because most of the animals seem to have big compounds. I especially liked all the different monkeys, and especially the ones with the awesome noses. When we came to these moneys compound,
two of them were fighting... which looked really funny :) .
I recorded a small video of this : ( which i will upload later)

14.10.2012 - Botanic Garden

On October the 14th i went to the Botanic garden in Singapore which was really nice, and the best thing is : it was for free!
At the beginning i could choose between all the different kinds of gardens one which would interest me the most. As shown in the picture down below.
pick the garden of my choice
I was most interested in the evolution garden so i started with this garden. The evolution garden, is a garden
which tells the story of how the plants developed on our earth since the beginning of time.

The second garden i cose was the health garden, which shows different kinds of plants which are used for medications. As expected they didn*t show any weed plants, because probably people would steal them, if they were growing there ;) .

The next garden i visited was the ginger garden. What i learned from this garden is that banana plant for example belongs to the family of ginger plants.

The last garden which i visited was the orchids garden, which costs only 1$ for students and 5$ for adults. I was lucky that i had a student passport.

After visiting the Botanic garden i went to a barber at the Shopping Centre at Clarks Quay. I think it is funny that all the shops in Singapore seem to be opened 24/7. You can go shopping when ever you want. I think it was about 8 pm on a Sunday night, when i got my hair cut at this barber. Being happy that i finally had shorter hair again i went to the Marina Bay Shopping Centre, because i was hoping that i could perhaps play a bit on the grand piano in this shopping centre. When i arrived at the grand piano, these guys here were already jaming it out for me, so i didn*t have to play on it. They said they play there every weekend.  I listened to their music a bit and then went back to the hostel.

15.10.2012 - Suntec City Centre && little India

On October 15th i went to the Suntec City Centre in Singapore. There i watched the Fountain of Wealth,
which is the worlds largest and worlds ugliest fountain -  as natalie tran would say.

Fountain of Wealth
Having found this fountain i went to a piano shop in a nearby shopping centre which sold pretty grand pianos. I was alowed to play on the big white and brand new grand piano :) . After playing some songs, i decided to walk from the shopping centre in north-west direction to little india. I should have better taken the train, that was really a long walk.

little india
In little India i went to a restaurant for lunch. I found a nice vegetarian meal for 6.5 Singapore Dollars. The people in the restaurant were very friendly, and they even refilled my rice for free :) .

the restaurant i ate in at little india

my lunch in little india
After having a meal in this indian restaurant, i walked trough a small market as shown in the picture down below. I bet you can find tons of these markets if you just walk into some of the smaller streets on the side. On one of the markets i bought a small pinapple for 2 Singapore Dollars which i would have for breakfast on the next day.

In one of the side-streets i found a "little" food court. Asians here in Singapore and also in malaysia seem to love theses Food courts - even the indish people, while i m not a great fan of them, because the food in these courts often suffers in quality i think.
