Siem Reap - 07.09.2012

Today in the morning we went on a bus which brought us to Siem Reap. We started at about 8:30 in phnom penh and arrived at about 14:30 in siem reap. There at the bus stop a tuc tuc driver picked us up for free and brought us to a small hotel in town. Well i dont know whether this is rather a hotel or a motel, but its enough for me and my friend. The night there will cost us 10$, because we didnt choose a room with air conditioning which is freezing anyway. The tuc tuc driver is a close friend of the tuc tuc driver from phnom penh.
Tomorrow he will bring us to Angkor Wat. We will start our trip at 5 o clock in the morning. Then he will be driving us around there for the whole day which will cost me and my friend 20$ together plus additionally 20$ admission for each of us to get into Angkor Wat.

Oudong - 06.09.2012

Yesterday we made a small tour near phnom penh. One of the tuc tuc drivers drove us to a temple called Oudong which is about 40 kms away from the city. Oudong is a buddhist temple (yes buddhists live there) which was built on top of a small mountain. The great thing about it is that if you are on that mountain you can see all the beautiful landscape around. I have some fotos here from Udong.

After this trip to Udong we went back to Phom Penh and headed for the Royal Palace.
But we didnt want to pay extra 6$ dollars to get in there because we head already payed 22$
for the trip to UDong (devided by two means11$ for each of us). So it might have been interesting to get in there but we wanted to save the money.

phom penh - 5.09.2012

Today i arrived at phom penh - capital of cambodia.it looks like normal small city to me not like the capital of  a country. i also feel like that not so many people are here on the streets as they were for example in ho chi minh city in vietnam.
I have not seen a real taxi here yet. It seems to me that they only have these tuc tucs here as shown in the picture.
It s already dark outside and we arrived in the afternoon, so i could not take many pictures of the city.
Tomorrow we will go and see the city.

Halong Bay - 29.08 - 02.09.2012

today is tuesday the 4th of september and i am back at ho chi minh city.
The last time i wrote was in Hue, but i couldnt upload my text, because the browser in this hotel was to old and could not load the blogger page. Last week i was worried, because my friend was disappeared, but he finally came back, which means we were in Ha long after that in the north of vietnam.
We had booked a tour  so we drove through ha long with this ship and stayed on the boat for the night.
Lunch, dinner and breakfast on the next day was included and also the visit to a cave in one of these rocks.
Also included was kayaking for about 30 minutes. All in all it was fun, but way to expensive.
To book a tour is really not necessary. It s better to ask some of the ships in the harbour whether they take you with them for a day or something and then drop you on one of the islands.
So here are some pictures of the ha long bay:

On our second day at ha long they dropped me and my friend at cat ba island where we stayed for about two days. Here also some picture of this island

the harbour and me

the harbour without me (the small houses on the water are restaurants i think)

one of the many small beaches - very calm
On our second day at cat ba we rented a kajak for about 200 000 dong for the whole day, and then went to monkey island and some small beautiful beaches where there were no tourists. Unfortunately i couldnt take any pictures because i didnt have my camera with me on that day , because i was afraid it could fall into the water or get wet.

Hue - 28.08.2012

today is tuesday and i am currently sitting in this Google Hotel here in Hue. The big streets in Hue look like any other big city here in vietnam: crowdy

The rooms here look pretty nice. This morning me and my friend and his family went to the imperial city here in hue (where the old vietnamese kings used to live in the past),
which was quite impressive. here some pictures from the imperial city:

the big hall in the background is where the kings of vietnam lived in the past

i dont know what this is you can walk through this building its like a gate

here the urns of the dead kings are kept
this building in the background belonged to the housing of the kings mother i think that water in the background was some kind of swimming pool in the past because there are ladders which go into the water

Me and my friend will stay here in this hotel for one more night and then tomorrow continue our trip to hanoi and ha long bay.
We booked a small tour around Ha Long which will hopefully be a lot of fun.
My friend went for a walk and still isnt back, although he said he wanted to get back until its getting dark outside. Which was about  hour ago  . I hope he is allright and will be back soon.

Buddhist Temple in Quy Non - 25.08.2012

at about 10 or 11 o clock on saturday (august 25th ) we reached our first destiny. A real Buddhist temple.
Some people of my friends family knew a monk who lived there. At this temple we had our breakfast
and also our lunch. It was completely vetegerian :) because Buddhists dont eat animals.
After that we wanted to go to the beach but it was raining. I nevertheless took a foto of the coast.

Because it was raining so much we deccided to have a drink at some restaurant at the sea.
After that we had a small dinner , and then returned to the temple where we would spend the night.

The only thing we had for sleeping was a straw mat and a pillow. (as shown in the picture).
On the next day on sunday we continued our trip to Da Nang, where we rented a hotel room for the night at the beach.
The rest of the day we spend at the beach and also the next morning until we left Da Nang on the next day at about 12 am.
On monday we continued our trip to hue. I think we arrived in the evening. Because it was already evening after we arrived we just went to a small marked in hue where i bought a nice fan.

Quy Non - 25.08.2012

on saturday 25th (august) we started our trip to the north of vietnam.
our plane to Quy Non started on saturday in the early morning at about 6 am.
I think we are rived about 1 hour later in Quy Non airport. There our Bus which we had rented picked us up.
We then drove through the country for several hours.
If you have lived in a big city like ho chi minh for some days and think that you already know how vietnam looks like (like i did in first place)
you are wrong, because the country side looks completely different than the city.
Vietnam has beautiful landscapes. I took some pictures which i will upload here:
